vitamins

03-27 l

to take the green one, two
brown ones, light brown and boring
three spotted beige, one white
four bright red, plump, rocket shaped
is more afford than i can mustard
i should i know
because you are waiting
because are you waiting
probably
not
lying in the dark
wide eyed wondering what I’m doing
i know
you’re probably
sleeping with your eyes
closed. are those eyes real even?
and I can’t rip my zippered self away
from
the screen
blue white center of the night glow
the interdragnet in which
i am the catch of the day every day
the eating of myself from the
inside out
(and i wonder often enough if
i am crazy
or lazy
or simply obsessive)
but is why i should just take the damn
things and get some sleep

you weren't never no indian

Dark Smoke 1

you smudged my house
evil spirits you said
and i think they heard you
talking like that

i let you stay
sage smelled good
green dust
like lichen

light enters
all the cracks here
my house, my temple, me
weren’t never no evil ones

your words all tumbled
round like marbles in your mouth
rolling like smoke
smoke round the bottom
of my feet
circle my chest
chakra
chakra
chakra chant
chakra
crown
chakra
chakra can’t

you weren’t never no indian
i said
i was tomorrow, you said
waving your stick
you lied but
they let you stay

Tangled

Tangle trees

you
with the long tree
of roots
who hides
in the tangle of my earth
deep in the scent of
Now begun
cool with the waters underground
curling reach to span that breach
which divides
the heart and boot
dug deeper wrangled inside out

taken root, taken root

around heartstones resting
slow
unalone
with whispered eyes a word
closed mouth tastes earth like salt
felt like whispers heard on skin

let go, let go

in and down inside the loam
soft
is this resistance to the growth
tangled ever more around my stones
under here
you feel like home

Wire

Wire 1

we climb over the wire
always we think
we can get through

clean

unscathed

always we think
they will hold the wire
with foot

and hand
and never let go
but they do
and barbed wire
comes in many forms
like teeth and
tongues

i saw you

LavaGlow

i saw your eye
in the temple
black like oil
dark like soil
gaze solid

i knew then that you were
your own creation
a series of events
which described
a determined path
and i knew how easily
people must follow you

you could be their god
guide
grave
the end of them
and evil never sat so still
for them as it did for you

all this i knew
and knew nothing
like you
planting things in
deep dark earth

planting

lake shoes

planting

inca joined me for breakfast
on the thin lighted morning
the same which
the same that
gathered for the watching
of the planting
when the seeds acquiesced
soil fell
in cracks between the cobblestones
between toes with silver nail beds
yearning for full ripe
in spring is childish
but so real
their eyes were slim water
ground cover
soil fell
like tears. of
course they were not
crying they were
helping
